Kanye West Is Writing A Book

Los Angeles – Here's hoping Kanye West eases up on the all-caps for his next writing venture.

The blog-happy hip-hop star is collaborating on Glow in the Dark, a "deluxe volume" about his most recent world tour that will feature documentary photographs of West's good life onstage and off, sketches and other conceptual plans for the tour's set design and costumes, exclusive commentary and a greatest-hits CD from the Glow in the Dark set list.

"Kanye West has turned his talents as pop artist to books," Charlies Miers, VP and publisher at Rizzoli New York, said in a statement to E! News.

"With a CD that includes Star Wars-like symphonics from the show as well as interview with Spike Jonze, it is not only a memento of one of the most successful musical performances of the year, it is an experience all its own."

The publishing house confirmed the book is underway and due out in October, after originally being scheduled for a spring release after the scope of the project was truly understood.

West's Glow in the Dark tour crisscrossed the globe between April and December and featured appearances by Jay-Z, Rihanna, Lupe Fiasco, Gnarls Barkley, N.E.R.D. and Nas.

Serena Williams Wins 10th Grand Slam!!

Serena Williams routed Dinara Safina 6-0, 6-3 Saturday to win the Australian Open
for her 10th Grand Slam title and a return to the No. 1 ranking.

It was total domination for the second-seeded Williams, who looked at ease in winning back-to-back majors — she won the U.S. Open championship in September — and was moving fluidly on the court.

“I absolutely, clearly, love playing here,” the 27-year-old Williams said. “You guys root for me so much. I don’t get that everywhere. So thank you so much.”

Williams’ near-perfect performance was in sharp contrast to No. 3 Safina, who was tight from the start. Later apologizing to the crowd for her performance, Safina said Williams was just too good, leaving her feeling like a ballboy.

In the first game, Safina double-faulted three times, including on break point. Williams ran off 18 of the last 20 points in the first set to finish it in 22 minutes.

It was Williams’ second overwhelming victory in a final at Melbourne Park, where she kept alive her record of winning in odd-numbered years since 2003 for four titles. Coming into the 2007 tournament unseeded after being plagued by injuries the year before, she beat top-seeded Maria Sharapova 6-1, 6-2.



If that wasn’t enough, Serena and Venus did their thing as a team and won the doubles championship as well:

Serena Williams was happy to have sister Venus on her side of the net Friday so she didn’t have to try to fend off those wicked volleys.

Their doubles title — their third at the Australian Open and eighth Grand Slam title as a combination — came at the expense of Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia and Japan’s Ai Sugiyama, who lost 6-3, 6-3 and had to dodge a number of stinging shots at the net, particularly from Venus.

“I just wouldn’t want to face them too much. They are ferocious,” Serena said of her sister’s shots. The sisters have faced each other in seven Grand Slam singles finals.

“She’s covering the whole net. At one point today, I literally stood back and she took care of everything.”

Kenyan police say the half brother of President Barack Obama has been arrested for possession of marijuana.

Area police chief Joshua Omokulongolo said George Obama was picked up Saturday and was being held at the Huruma police post in the capital. Omokulongolo said officers found one joint of marijuana on him.

George Obama and the president had the same father but barely know each other.

Although the BadBoy founder considers himself an entrepreneur and trend setter, we’re pretty sure he won’t enjoy 50 Cent’s classification of “Diddy Syndrome”.

50 Cent admits fame went to his head when his rap career took off into super-stardom. He claims that he regrettably caught himself following in the path of self-promoting mogul Sean Combs.

“When I blew up, I developed the Diddy syndrome and as soon as you develop that disease, you put a little more grease in your hair, and soon enough, you’re selling cologne.”

It makes us wonder if Kanye has been diagnosed with a severe case of “Diddy Syndrome” as well.

Kelly Rowland Planning on Moving to Europe PERMANENTLY!!!

R&B singer Kelly Rowland has a new leash on her career and a new home country.

Recently some reports speculated that Kelly Rowland was having financial trouble as her mansion in Miami was put on the “for-sale” list.

The singer’s publisher has since denounced those rumors and in doing so confirmed that Rowland will no longer maintain a primary residence in the US.

The spokesperson says, “Reports that Kelly Rowland’s Miami home is in foreclosure are entirely false. Kelly has put her home up for sale because she is working and living in Europe.”

Close friends of the star applauded the move saying, “Kelly just wants a fresh start and it helps that she’s a bigger star in Europe than in the States”.

The for Destiny’s Child member’s urgency to sell the home and move on with her new life is evident by the fact that she has slashed $500,000 off the $1.9 million price tag she originally paid for the residence in 2005.

Michelle Obama is PREGNANT???

London: US First Lady Michelle Obama is believed to be pregnant and expecting her third child, a media report in Britain said on Friday.

America is buzzing with hope that the 45-year-old wife of that country's first Black President Barack Obama will soon give birth to a "White House baby", barely two weeks after his official inauguration, the 'Daily Star' reported.

Michelle and her 47-year-old husband already have two daughters, Malia (10), and Sasha (7).

Internet bloggers and journalists have in fact started the speculation as long ago as November.

And, now Los Angeles' celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton, has written: "This is completely unconfirmed and at this point just a 'rumour' but... we're hearing the talk in (Washington) DC is that Michelle Obama is pregnant. Could this be true????? It'd be happy news! Hopefully it's a boy!"

Though both Michelle and Barack have clearly stated in the past that they intended to have no more children, the White House has done nothing to quell the gossip, it said.

An insider was quoted as saying: "Anything can be done to hide these sorts of rumours, and Barack and Michelle would not have wanted anything to detract from the importance of the inauguration day.

"Their advisers will have been kept up to speed and it is very possible that there may be some announcement in the very near future."

In fact, British media have already nicknamed Michelle as "America's Lady Diana".

"Not since Princess of Wales has there been such a glamorous role model at the apex of society. The First Lady has excited the fashion world, but like Diana she would rather champion the less fortunate than be a clotheshorse," another newspaper had said just days back.

Police in Schenectady, NY arrested 17-year-old Deandre Ellis for burglary and unlawfully entering a school's premises and committing the act of forgery.

Why?

Deandre was dressed in drag so he can take the Regents exam for another student. The exam is crucial for students hoping to graduate and get into the best schools - pressure that officials said may have led one female student to enlist a friend to take the test for her.

City school officials said a monitor verifying that each student was taking the proper exam suspected something was amiss when the name on the test and the person taking it didn't match; officials knew the female student who was supposed to be taking the test and Deandre was not her.

He was arrested and arraigned. If convicted he could face one to seven years behind bars. As for the young woman who was supposed to be taking the Regents exam, school officials said they're still investigating.

Kanye Hires a Personal "Shoe Cleaner"!!

Rapper Kanye West recently hired a “shoe cleaner” to take care of his vast collection of kicks.

In the world that most people live in, a recession usually means we cut back on unnecessary expenses but obviously we don’t live in Kanye’s world.

Apparently the rapper has too much money for his own good as his personal shoe cleaner’s sole responsibility is to make sure all 750 pairs of name brand kicks are are clean, in order, and in boxes.

According to one close source, “dude is a close friend of Kanye who has an unbelievable job that pays six figures, and I guess he’s good at what he does”.

Said Kanye, “I hired someone specially to take care of my shoes. They clean them, box them and take a picture of them so it’s easier to find them.”

Kanye’s new stunt is only comparable to when Mariah Carey hired a personal water boy to maintain her daily water supply. It sounds like the two of them are competing for the “Most Extreme Diva” title.

Voletta says to Lil' Kim "You are a White Woman trapped in a DISFIGURED Black Woman's Body"

Voletta Wallace is getting tired of Lil Kim talking greasy about Notorious. And in a recent interview with Hip-Hop Weekly she’s letting it be known.

“She felt the character we chose for her was ‘too dark,’ ” Wallace told the publication, regarding Kim’s issues with the film. “Do you know why the character was too dark for her? Because she’s a white woman trapped in a black woman’s body, and you can tell the world I said it, because those are Lil’ Kim’s words. She should be ashamed of herself.”

Wallace had some more ether for the pint-sized rap icon:

“Tell Lil’ Kim to go find herself, go drink a cup of green tea and get a life! This movie is not about Lil’ Kim. She felt we used her character to promote [but] this movie is about my son. … Lil’ Kim needs to go sit down.”

All this comes on the heels of Kim telling Hip-Hop Weekly, “They were disrespecting me terrible in that script…the one that sticks out to me was in a scene allegedly when Ms. Wallace came to see one of Biggie’s shows for the first time and I was supposed to be so mad at him about something that I pulled my panties off on stage and mooned the crowd with my (explicative)… What the (explicative)? Come on, don’t you think that would’ve been in the history archives? They’re using Lil Kim to sensationalize their bulls— lying’-a– story. That was the last version of the script I saw, which somebody had snuck to me, ’cause people didn’t want me to see it.”

Biggie’s widow Faith Evans brushed off Kim’s comments. “I got four kids, and I definitely don’t have time for this type of shit,” she told MTV.com. “It’s just sad. I don’t know Kim’s story like that.”

What worries me about the psuedo Thug image that is often personified in Hip-Hop culture is the young man who does not understand that rappers are actors.

The rappers say it themselves, every time someone takes their fake lifestyle and actually commits a crime and they are blamed for it. They say, "well no one sues Al Pacino for his role in Scarface or The Godfather, I'm just like them." Only difference is that when those actors come off screen, they become themselves, the rappers have no sense of self and thus you have Lil Wayne's recent interview with Katie Couric. Thoughts?
