Chris Brown is trying to get back in Rihanna's good graces by buying gifts:

Embattled R&B star CHRIS BROWN lavished gifts on birthday girl RIHANNA in a bid to heal the rift between the pair, according to U.S. reports. The Umbrella singer put on a brave face and celebrated turning 21 with a low-key bash at a rented home in the Hollywood Hills less than two weeks after she was allegedly beaten by her pop star beau. Brown was charged by Los Angeles police with making criminal threats following the incident, which reportedly left Rihanna needing hospital treatment.

But, despite facing possible jail time over the alleged attack, Brown is desperate to try and win back his lover - buying the star a diamond bracelet and necklace before making an emotional phone call to ask for forgiveness, according to the New York Daily News. A source tells the publication, “Chris called Rihanna to wish her a happy birthday. “He’s absolutely trying to get back into her good graces. He knows he’s very much in the doghouse right now, and is doing everything he can to show her how sorry he is.”

And Rihanna is reportedly finding it difficult to turn her back on the relationship. The insider adds, “Rihanna so wanted Chris with her on her big day, but obviously realizes why they can’t be together right now. But it’s becoming more and more clear that she can’t be without him.” Rihanna spoke out about the incident for the first time at the weekend, thanking her fans for “the outpouring of support she has received during this difficult time”.

Following an entertainment website’s publishing last night of a closeup photograph of what appears to be Rihanna’s badly beaten face, the Los Angeles Police Department has launched an internal investigation into the source of the leak. “The photograph has the appearance of one taken during an official Domestic Violence investigation. The Los Angeles Police Department takes seriously its duty to maintain the confidentiality of victims of domestic violence,” the LAPD said via a statement released on Thursday.”The Department launched an immediate internal investigation and subsequently filed a personnel complaint. A violation of this type is considered serious misconduct, with penalties up to and including termination.”

The LAPD has not officially identified Rihanna as the alleged victim in the Chris Brown domestic violence case, but it said in its statement that last night it received “numerous inquiries about the release of a photograph associated with a domestic violence incident that occurred on February 8, 2009, involving entertainer Chris Brown.”

The police statement encourages anyone with information about the source of the photo to call or visit the department’s website.

Rihanna Traumatized From What Transpired?

Rihanna is listless, suffering from headaches and “torn” over her parents’ pleas to cooperate with police after she was allegedly assaulted by boyfriend Chris Brown, the new issue of Us Weekly reports.

“She hums sometimes, but she’s more quiet than I’ve ever seen her,” an unnamed pal of the “Umbrella” singer told Us.

The friend said Rihanna, 20, visited a doctor last Friday, five days after Brown allegedly roughed her up following a fight in the couple’s rented Lamborghini.

“It was because of the endless headaches she’s been having since Chris hit her,” the friend said.

“The doctors were concerned about the contusions on the sides of her head.”

The magazine reports that Rihanna is “torn” over helping cops build a case.

Brown, 19, was arrested the night of the Grammys on suspicion of making criminal threats and was released on $50,000 bail.

“I mean, damn, her eye’s black and the sides of her face are all f—-d up,” the friend told Us. “But she keeps saying she still loves him.”

Rihanna’s parents are reportedly pleading with her not to worry about how jail time might affect Brown’s career, according to Us. A Daily News source said the Barbados-bred beauty is cooperating with police.

Terrence Howard Sees Himself In Chris Brown + JAY-Z

Terrence Howard recently commented on Chris Brown, saying he was a good man after the situation. Maybe because he is no stranger to domestic abuse:

He later retracted his backing, stating that he wasn’t aware of what the singer/dancer was accused of. (Duh!) But what’s interesting is that Howard himself has been found to have pulled a “Chris Brown” himself back eight years ago, according to the Smoking Gun.com.

The website details that the actor was arrested by Pennsylvania authorities in September 2001 for assaulting his estranged wife at the time, Lori McCommas. Here’s how The Smoking Gun is reporting the incident:

The actor, who co-starred in “Iron Man” and was nominated in 2006 for an Academy Award for his role in “Hustle & Flow,” was arrested by Pennsylvania cops in September 2001 for assaulting his estranged wife. According to a Whitemarsh Police Department report, after Howard and Lori McCommas argued on the phone, the actor warned, “Don’t disrespect me by hanging up on me or I’ll come over and hurt you.” McCommas then “hung up and contacted 911 fearing Howard was serious.” While McCommas was speaking with a police dispatcher, Howard “showed up at the victim’s residence and began breaking the door down.” McCommas ran to the rear of the house and into the backyard. Howard then “broke the front door down and ran through the screen door in the kitchen. Howard then grabbed the victim’s left arm and punched her twice with a closed fist in the left side of the face.”

Howard was freed from custody after posting $20,000 bail and pleaded guilty in 2002 to disorderly conduct. He and McCommas divorced in 2003 but remarried in 2005. They have three children together, but are currently separated.

Rihanna Does Not Accept Chris Brown's Apology!

Chris Brown has been taking a lot of L's lately. It's only getting worse:

Singer Rihanna’s camp has declined to officially comment on Chris Brown’s apology statement, but sources say that the “Umbrella” crooner is “appalled” by Brown’s statement.

“All of us, including Rihanna, don’t understand how he can say he’s sorry on the one hand, but still… does not admit any guilt,” a Barbados pal of Rihanna tells the Chicago Sun-Times. “He should have expressed more contrition.”

After a week of negative press for Chris subsequent to the alleged abuse of Rihanna, Brown released a statement saying he was “sorry and saddened… over what transpired,” but did not go into detail about the altercation.

A source close to the Rihanna told the newspaper that RiRi is “royally pissed off” at what she calls Brown’s “cavalier and arrogant statement.”

Both singers are currently keeping a low profile. Chris is due in court March 5.

I actually think he made a mistake, but the whole story must be uncovered before making opinions.

People magazine caught up with Rihanna’s dad and Jay Z. Here’s what Rihanna’s dad had to say:

MTV is already set to air a story on the love birds and this domestic
violence case next week:

With “Chris Brown & Rihanna: Love in Trouble,” MTV News will take
an in-depth look at the allegations of domestic violence that Chris Brown faces
after an alleged altercation with Rihanna last weekend. For the special, which
airs Monday, February 16, at 6 p.m. ET/PT, MTV News has gathered journalists,
industry professionals and other experts — as well as an in-studio audience of
young fans — to provide insight and commentary about what the incident means for
both artists’ careers and lives, and society in general. The special will take a
look at the couple’s year-long relationship and will also examine the influence
the alleged domestic violence between Brown’s former stepfather and mother may

Stars Deny Being Textually Active With Chris Brown

According to E!:

Following reports that Chris Brown and Rihanna's blowout may have been started by a text message from another woman, several celebs are stepping forward to deny their involvement.

A finger had been pointed at Paris Hilton after she was seen hanging with Brown at a pre-Grammy party Friday night. But Paris shot down the report today, telling Radar: "I was not 'all over him' as some magazine reported. I said hello and that was it. I love Rihanna and that never happened."

Songbird Leona Lewis also denies anything happened after they chatted at a party on Saturday...

"Leona was at Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party with her family and boyfriend and had nothing whatsoever to do with any argument that may have ensued between Chris and Rihanna," a spokesperson from her record label tells E! News. "Any allegations that the pair had flirted are completely false."

In fact, it was Rihanna who introduced Leona to Chris, a source tells us. “Leona was seated with her family and long-term boyfriend, Lou Al-Chamaa, at a table near Rihanna and Chris at Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party...She said something like "hello," and they exchanged pleasantries for a couple of minutes.”

Also distancing herself from the incident is singer and actress Keisha Chanté, who stepped forward to deny her involvement.

"She was nowhere near Rihanna or Chris Brown," her manager said. "She had nothing to do with any of that."

Terrence Howard Retracts Statement About Chris Brown

He claims he knew nothing about the situation and would have answered differently if he did:

Terrence Howard wants to take back what he said about Chris Brown and Rihanna.

When asked by paparazzi last night if he had any comment on the Chris Brown incident with Rihanna, the actor said, “It’s just life, man. Chris is a great guy. He’ll be all right. And Rihanna knows he loves her. She’ll be all right. Just everybody’s got to get out of their way.”

But now, Howard is insisting he didn’t know about the allegations made against Brown when he made his remarks.

“When they asked me about Chris Brown the other day, I was in no way aware of what he had been accused of,” Howard said in a statement. “Had I known, I would have never had said something so insensitive.”

Howard is the second high-profile celeb in as many days to retract remarks they made about Brown and Rihanna.

Rapper T.I. issued a statement yesterday regretting comments he made the night before on Last Call With Carson Daly. T.I. said he “made a mistake of commenting before understanding the situation.”

T.I. told Daly that he had spoken to Brown since the alleged incident occurred early Sunday morning. “I told him, ‘This too shall pass.’ We’re celebrities, we’re entertainers, but we’re still human—all of us,” he said. “Don’t expect us not to make mistakes because we will.”

Rihanna's D-Day Was Over A Text Message!!!

Law enforcement sources confirm to TMZ Chris Brown received a text message from a woman while he was driving with Rihanna and that’s what started the confrontation that left Rihanna battered and bruised.

We’re told the text message was from a woman who wrote about hooking up
with Brown later.

We’ve also learned there is a reference in the police report to an argument over a rapper, but we’ve learned this is NOT what triggered the argument. The woman who text messaged Brown is not a rapper.

As for Rihanna’s injuries, we continue to learn more. Cops took multiple pictures at the scene. Chris Brown allegedly hit Rihanna so hard with his fists, she could barely open her eyes for the photos — they were almost completely swollen shut. She had a fat lip, her mouth was swollen, her nose was badly bloodied, and she had contusions on her forehead and both sides of her face.

The DA is also not satisfied with the evidence and will not move forward with the prosecution until they receive more:

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) — The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office asked police to do more investigative work before a decision is made on whether charges will be filed in the domestic violence case against singer Chris Brown, according to a spokeswoman for the DA.

The LAPD’s chief investigator in case, Detective Deshon Andrews, told CNN he hand-carried his findings to the district attorney Tuesday afternoon.

Prosecutors looked at the files and then asked Andrews for “an additional investigation,” DA spokeswoman Jane Robinson said.

Andrews said that to keep photos and documents from leaking to the media, he has kept the case file closely guarded and allowed no copies of the material to be made.

Thank you for your concern and support.” It eventually came out Rihanna had bruises, a split lip and bite marks. The fork-tongued flack didn’t return our calls yesterday, probably because we put her in our “Liar’s corner” in 2004, after she fibbed about her client Damon Dash, claiming he was buying the old Moomba lounge and financing an Abel Ferrara movie. He did neither. Silverman has also professionally lied for Naomi Campbell. If Silverman says the sun is shining, bring an umbrella.
