Eve Making a Comeback TOO!!

Eve is trying to make a comeback that nobody seems to be interested in:

Rapper/actress EVE is desperate to release her long-awaited fourth album - because she fears its songs will become so old, she’ll be forced to rework them again. The Tambourine hitmaker was originally due to drop her disc Here I Am on Interscope in a joint deal with Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment in August 2007, but after months of wrangling, the CD never materialised.
Now signed to Geffen Records, Eve is itching to get her music back on the radio - after being forced to re-record a host of tracks on the newly-titled Flirt.

In an interview with NYPost.com’s PopWrap blog, she says, “Unfortunately I am caught up in a whole music label situation. The album is finally going to come out this spring or summer. But with all the time that passed, we went back in and reworked the whole thing.”

And Eve decided to scrap a number of mid-tempo tracks in favour of more club-friendly beats - because she didn’t want to be reminded about the uphill battle she faced to get her album on shop shelves.

She adds, “I had to get in there and put in some upbeat music that I wasn’t depressed about… It won’t be called Here I Am anymore. Now it’s called Flirt.

“I am truly, truly sitting on some amazing music. Nobody’s been waiting longer than me to get this monkey off my back!”

Lisa Raye EXPOSES her Ex-Husband

She says:

LisaRaye McCoy is testifying this week about the large sums of money ex-husband Prime Minister Michael Misick, doled out on her during their marriage. His financial dealings are now the focus of a British investigative commission that is wrapping up hearings this week on the main island of Providenciales. The Turks and Caicos still answers to a London-appointed governor, who formed the commission last summer after a British Parliament report found complaints of rampant corruption on the islands.

The commission could call for a criminal investigation based on what it finds. The hearings that began Jan. 13 at the Regent Palms Hotel have included sworn testimony from Misick’s estranged wife, actress LisaRaye McCoy, that she used a government-leased jet to vacation in Africa, visit her daughter in Switzerland and commute from Los Angeles. The couple also leased a Rolls-Royce and spent more than $1 million on the interior design of their home. Misick has denied abusing public funds, as reported by The Associated Press.

Investigators said in the hearings that eastern European developer Mario Hoffman acquired resort land at a deep discount and received special tax breaks around the time one of his bankers gave the prime minister a $6 million loan - part of $20 million in personal loans that Misick has amassed from banks, a developer and political appointees. Misick, 43, a London-educated lawyer and realty broker, testified himself that he continued to collect sales commissions after being elected prime minister. Now in his second term, Misick is also the tourism minister, the Turks and Caicos’ promoter-in-chief. Since he took office in 2003, the gross domestic product in the territory of 22,000 people has more than doubled to $750 million - largely through a resort-building boom. Island aficionado Mark Amherst of privateislandsblog.com said the Turks and Caicos is “the new No. 1 holiday retreat for A-list celebrities.”

Rihanna & Michael Jackson Facing Lawsuit!

Michael Jackson and Rihanna are getting sued by singer Soul Makossa’ singer, Manu Dibango:

African singer MANU DIBANGO has filed suit against MICHAEL JACKSON and RIHANNA, accusing the pair of stealing a hook from one of his songs.

The 75-year-old singer, who hails from the Republic of Cameroon, claims his 1972 song Soul Makossa was used by Jackson for his hit track Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’ from his 1982 album Thriller. Jackson had reportedly reached a financial settlement with Dibango after accepting he used parts of the song, reports the Associated Press.

But the issue was revisited when pop singer Rihanna obtained Jackson’s permission to use the melody on her Grammy-nominated single Please Don’t Stop the Music - failing to contact Dibango too. According to court documents filed in Paris, France on Tuesday (03Feb09), Dibango is seeking $650,330 (500,000 Euros/£464,520) in damages.

His lawyers have also asked the courts to block record labels Sony BMG, EMI and Warner from receiving any income from the songs until courts settle the issue. French judges will decide on 17 February (09) if Dibango’s case will be heard.

AP: alleges copyright infringement of Obama image

NEW YORK – On buttons, posters and Web sites, the image was everywhere during last year's presidential campaign: A pensive Barack Obama looking upward, as if to the future, splashed in a Warholesque red, white and blue and underlined with the caption HOPE.

Designed by Shepard Fairey, a Los-Angeles based street artist, the image has led to sales of hundreds of thousands of posters and stickers, has become so much in demand that copies signed by Fairey have been purchased for thousands of dollars on eBay.

The image, Fairey has acknowledged, is based on an Associated Press photograph, taken in April 2006 by Manny Garcia on assignment for the AP at the National Press Club in Washington.

The AP says it owns the copyright, and wants credit and compensation. Fairey disagrees.

"The Associated Press has determined that the photograph used in the poster is an AP photo and that its use required permission," the AP's director of media relations, Paul Colford, said in a statement.

"AP safeguards its assets and looks at these events on a case-by-case basis. We have reached out to Mr. Fairey's attorney and are in discussions. We hope for an amicable solution."
